Audience: Officials administering the busy port of Nagasaki, the site of most of Japan’s foreign contacts at the time.
Reason:
The Main Idea: Japan was isolated because edict were afraid and jealous at the same time. They didn't like Japan as the dominating country.
Significance: The Japanese were very ahead in many ways; the edict was afraid of the fact that Japan was developing greatly everyday.
